Excellent historical summary. I come from a banking background. I remember 2008 like it was yesterday. I knew in my bones what bank failures would mean. What you lay out clearly was that America chose not to experience the pain it forced on others.

Btw, Canada’s financial crisis was not nearly as severe, due to both less deregulation of the financial sector and Carney’s handling of it as the head of the Bank of Canada.
