How far does Trump follow Hitler’s road to power?
In a conversation with a well-informed Thai business friend recently, he stated that Trump was copying Hitler’s path to dictatorship, using Hitler’s playbook. On the surface, this seemed viable, and coming from an individual removed from US politics and ties to Germany or Europe, it appeared objective.
But, we all know nothing is that clear-cut in history or politics.
OVERVIEW
Trump’s initiatives do echo Hitler’s early moves, but crucial escalators are not present or have yet to be installed. The US is in an authoritarian gray zone rather than a full dictatorship, so far.
